Situational Training Exercise (Click here)

Private Penny Pureblood is pinned down in the back pew of pastor Pushie's Country Church, being pummeled with the typical small arms fire of "Jesus did away with the Law."

Objective: Please advise Private Penny with an irrefutable defense that will rescue her from this erroneous assault!

32 comments:

  1. How could he do away with it when He said that He came to fulfill it and not do away with it (make it null and void) in Matthew 5:17-19? Or that He could say that there will be people who are least in the kingdom because they do not do nor teach others to keep the commandments. Can the King and the Prince be least in their own kingdom? I do not think so.

  2. Zechariah tells me in his prophesy about the Messiah's 1000 year reign (Zec. 14:16) that EVERYONE will be keeping the Feast of Tabernacles in those days... So Paster Pushie, where will you be during this festival?

  3. If Jesus did away with the law than why can't we kill people? I would ask these types of questions to the pastor until he gives you a common sense answer. There has to be law or you have chaos. Even the United States has laws that you can't break without consequences, so how much more YHWH!

  4. So if Jesus did away with the law, then I guess that means there is no sin, right? I mean, to sin is to break God's law, or commandments, right? So if there is no law and no sin, I guess we can all do what we want and live consequence free until we die then. We can even come up with a motto for this type of worry free existence: "Do what thou wilt". Oh, wait a minute, I think that one has already been taken.

  6. Just make sure pride doesn't enter in to your hearts because pride comes before the fall. Humility comes before promotion (by YHWH). Seek the truth through the Holy Spirit.

How I love the entire Word of YHWH!

  7. God spoke and Creation happened.
God spoke and the Law (Torah) was written, some of it by God's own hand.
God's spoken WORD (Torah) became flesh.
To deny the Law (Torah) is to deny the Creation, Jesus and God.
If pastor Pushie ever preaches against idolatry, adultery, murder, theft, etc. he still believes in the Law!
The best ammunition for this situation is to quietly point out to pastor Pushie where the Law supports any comment he made. Then let the Holy Spirit do the "heavy hitting" on his heart.

  8. Brief Bible Study on the Law...

The following are various verses from the Bible that speak of the law <8451>. I have left the Strong's Concordance Number after each instance of the word law <8451> to ensure that it is the same word that is spoken of in each of these verses.

Neh 9:13 Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws <8451>, good statutes and commandments:

Psa 1:2 But his delight [is] in the law <8451> of the LORD; and in his law <8451> doth he meditate day and night.

Psa 19:7 The law <8451> of the LORD [is] perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD [is] sure, making wise the simple.

Psa 37:31 The law <8451> of his God [is] in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

Psa 40:8 I delight to do thy will, O my God 430: yea, thy law <8451> [is] within my heart.

    Psa 94:12 Blessed [is] the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law <8451>;

Psa 119:1 Blessed [are] the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law <8451> of the LORD.

Psa 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law <8451>.

Psa 119:34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law <8451>; yea, I shall observe it with [my] whole heart.

Psa 119:44 So shall I keep thy law <8451> continually for ever and ever.

Psa 119:51 The proud have had me greatly in derision: [yet] have I not declined from thy law <8451>.

Psa 119:53 Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law <8451>.

Psa 119:55 I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy law <8451>.

Psa 119:61 The bands of the wicked have robbed me: [but] I have not forgotten thy law <8451>.

Psa 119:70 Their heart is as fat as grease; [but] I delight in thy law <8451>.
Psa 119:72 The law <8451> of thy mouth [is] better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

Psa 119:77 Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law <8451> [is] my delight.

Psa 119:92 Unless thy law <8451> [had been] my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.

Psa 119:97 O how love I thy law <8451>! it [is] my meditation all the day.

Psa 119:109 My soul [is] continually in my hand : yet do I not forget thy law <8451>.

Psa 119:113 I hate [vain] thoughts: but thy law <8451> do I love.

Psa 119:136 Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law <8451>.

Psa 119:142 Thy righteousness [is] an everlasting righteousness, and thy law <8451> [is] the truth.

Psa 119:165 Great peace have they which love thy law <8451>: and nothing shall offend them.

Psa 119:174 I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law <8451> [is] my delight.

Pro 3:1 My son, forget not my law <8451>; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

Pro 4:2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law <8451>.

Pro 6:23 For the commandment [is] a lamp; and the law <8451> [is] light; and reproofs of instruction [are] the way of life:

Pro 7:2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law <8451> as the apple of thine eye.

Pro 13:14 The law <8451> of the wise [is] a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

Pro 28:7 Whoso keepeth the law <8451> [is] a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous [men] shameth his father.

Pro 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law <8451>, even his prayer [shall be] abomination.

Pro 29:18 Where [there is] no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law <8451>, happy [is] he.

  9. The Good News is that YAH Law will always stand.

I wonder how the church has gotten away with the false doctrine that the Torah was done away with for so long.

One good thing is we the people are standing up for the Truth.

    One Torah for all

  10. Other than the misunderstanding of the words of Yeshua as recorded in Matthew chapter five, Paul's words seem to be the major source of Christian belief that the Law (Torah) has been abolished. In Romans chapter 7 Paul says the Law is holy, just, and good (verse 12); spiritual (verse 14); and that he delights in the Law (verse 22).
In Acts 21:28 the Jews accused Paul of teaching people against the Law, and profaning the Temple. In Acts 24:14 Paul stated that he belived all things which are written in the law and the prophets. In Acts 25:8 he stated that he had not offended in the law of the Jews, nor in the Temple, nor against Caesar. In fact in verse 17 of chapter 28 he said he had not even committed anything against the traditions of the fathers (which would indicate he even kept the "oral law"). The Jews charged Paul with teaching against the Law YHWH gave through Moses. Paul denied this, and yet much of Christianity agrees with the Jews and use Pauls letters as "proof" - in effect calling him a liar. Is it any wonder that Peter said of Paul (II Peter 3:16) that he wrote some things "hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other Scriptures, unto their own destruction."?

My mission from the Commander and Chief is to penatrate enemy lines, gather intel, lay down some small arms fire when necessary, (although I had to carpet bomb a few points this week on our discussion boards), in the hopes of getting defectors at the top levels of the Christian religion who can then turn many hearts back toward the Lord in mass. =)

    Blessings to you fellow motivators.

  13. Deut. 18 tells us that YHVH will raise up a prophet like Moses and that we should listen on obey that one. Deut.13 gives us the test for a false prophet - one who teaches us to go after a god our Fathers did not know; a god which leads us away from the Torah.
Jesus(Yeshua) can not be the prophet of Deut. 18 if he taught to do away with the Torah.

Others will agree when their eyes are opened. We need to pray for YHWH to open the eyes of the blind so they might understand. HE did it for you and I! Blessed be His name!!

  15. "Sin is transgression of the written law of Moses as defined by the Scriptures. Yeshua, Paul and Peter said we must repent or turn away from our sins. when we turn away from our sins we are automatically following the written Law of Moses. For example if a theif repents or turns away from stealing, he or she is automatically folowing the written law of Moses that tells us not to steal. It is this way with the entire Law. Either you are living a life of repentance in obedience to the Law or you are living a life of sin in disobedience to the Law. there is no middle ground. If sin is not transgression of the written Law of Moses, then what is it? What do the Scriptures say? How do you know Paul is talking about the written law of Moses? The Greek word for law is 'nomos' and it is a generic term which could mean any law. Paul could be talking about Roman law, rabbinic oral law or the written law of Moses. How do you know that Paul is referring to the written law every time? Paul was a Pharisee well versed in oral law. How do you know he wasn't talking about the oral law of the Pharisees? I cannot base my faith on a generic term. I have to base my faith on the overall context of the bible and not on the testimony of what I think or assume that one man said. How can you Pastor Pushie?" This is what I say and what I have said. :)

17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the
Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to
    destroy but to complete.
18 “For truly, I say to you, till the heaven
and the earth pass away, one jot or one tittle
shall by no means pass from the Torah
    till all be done.
19 “Whoever, then, breaks one of the least
of these commands, and teaches men so,
shall be called least in the reign of the
heavens; but whoever does and teaches
them, he shall be called great in the reign
    of the heavens. (ISR)

  17. The Rich Man and Lazarus

27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”

If you had trouble hearing the prohphets and Moses, you wouldn't be persuaded through one rising from the dead. In other words, you can't have one without the other. They are inserperable. You can not be persuaded to follow the way correctly, unless you submit to his voice, charge, commandments, statutes, and voice.

(Gen 26:5) Abraham obeyed the law many years before it written down in the old covenant.

    Just some thoughts....

  18. Most people that argue that the law is done away with will still make silly statements like, "Just because we have Grace doesn't mean we should go on sinning". They call this Cheap Grace. I like to then ask what is a sin? It's a relative term. Means different things to different people. Some people think drinking any alcohol whatsoever is a sin. Some people think dancing is a sin. Some people think tattoos are a sin. On the other hand, some people think homosexuality is not a sin. Nor eating unclean foods. I would argue that if we are not to go on sinning we all need to know what a sin is. Wherever could we find out? Surely God would want us to know right? So let's look in the Bible. 1 John 3:4 says "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law:for sin is the transgression of the law." There ya have it. Sin defined. Without a clear definition of sin from God, we are all just running around making up our own minds what is good and what is bad. Ever since man ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil we somehow think we are qualified to make that decision. Obviously we are not, just take a gander at the state of the world and you'll see the truth of the matter.

  22. Jesus was asked several times how a person could inherit eternal life in Matt 19:16; Mark 10:17; Luke 10:25; Luke 18:18. His answer was simply to keep the commandments of God. He listed a few of them so they would understand what He was referring to so He wouldn't be misunderstood. Remember, He could have directly told them you won't have to keep the commandments after I die if they were to be done away.

He also summarized the 10 commandments as love toward God and love toward man showing why we need to keep them. God wants us to be His children 1 John 3:10 and by keeping His way of life we show how God is since Christ should be living in us Gal 2:20 and become lights to the world.

So yes, we need to keep the 10 commandments and the whole law of God!

  23. Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Since heaven and earth have not passed away and all (prophecy) has not been fulfilled, we can safely say that the law was not done away with.

  28. My first question to the brother, would be this,

“Why don’t you believe in God any more?”
(I use the term God as this is what they are generally used to)

This usually shuts them up long enough for me to ask the next question,

“Could you please show me in any Scripture, in any translation of your choice, where the Apostle Paul replaced Yeshua’s authority over His Bride?”

This of course keeps them quiet long enough for me to ask the next question.

“I see by your reaction that both of those questions have either offended or shocked you?”

By know they are either white in the face or their skin colour has turned a lighter shade of pink.

From here either two things happen,
    1. They get up and leave giving a prior appointment as an excuse, or
    2. They sit down and invariably ask this question.

“What do you mean?”(The Pink faced guys are the ones that usually ask the question.)

Which is of course exactly what I want.

I then ask all involved in the debate to open their Bibles to the following scripture.
Matthew 5:18 ( now the secret is not to wax eloquent on what you think the passage means, ask them for their explanation.)

When they have attempted to answer, and I say this because they invariably have no solid answer, this is normal because even the top theologians and commentaries don’t have a reasonable answer here.

    I ask the following questions
    "
    1. "Could you please tell me when the heaven and the earth has passed, as I seemed to have missed it some how?"
    a. I must admit I can get a little sarcastic at this point. Which one has to watch as it could come across as arrogant, and that is not of Yahweh, and if your audience is sharp they WILL pick up on it?
Their answers here are sometimes extremely amusing

    2. The second Question is more of a statement, and goes something like this,
    a. “So then it stands to reason , if the heaven and the earth is still here then not every thing has been fulfilled, if that is the case then the Law was not nailed to the cross and will be with us until these things happen, do you agree.”
[They can't argue with the Messiah.]

Usually at this point there is a period of uncomfortable silence.( oh and My pink faced brother has gone a whiter shade of pale)

OOPS! Sorry I will stop here as this posting is getting way too long; if you are interested in the rest I could do a posting later with the conclusion.

    Blessings

  29. All Torah means is Teaching and Instructions found in the first five books of Moshe and who ever thinks that it is done away with is really confused cause Mattityahu 5:17 tells me that the law (Torah) was truly ment to be. And if you read further Yeshua also states "Whoever, then, breaks one of the least of these Torah mitzvot, and teaches other to do so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys them and so teaches will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. If you read in the book of Tehillim (Psalms) a lot of things David talks about is how he loves YHVH's Torah Tehillim 19:7 says "The Torah of Adonai is PERFECT restoring the inner person. The instruction of YHVH is sure making wise the thoughtless.

  31. Howdy folks, Wordshine got here first with my favorite passage when this happens: Mat 5:18 "For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."

Messiah said it, I believe it, that settles it. I hate it when this has to happen; I have looked for church home all of my life. It always seems to start out nice, and then BOOM, all of a sudden they throw in some tradition of man and I have to shake the dust off of me feet and make like a bakery truck! I have yet to find any church home that believes that the scriptures mean what they say, all the way from Gen to Rev; somewhere along the line, they add something or do a private interpretation to make some doctrine fit.

You can't tell 'em either, even when you show them the Word privately with respect; it's enough to drive a brother to drink.

    Love ya!
